Dr. Harp’s Blues Revue to play benefit for homeless veteran this Sunday, April 19, Manchester NH

Dr-1.+Harp+April+19A benefit for the New Horizon Homeless Shelter will be held at the Central Ale House in Manchester, New Hampshire from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Central Ale House is located at 23 Central Avenue in the Queen City. Dr. Harp’s Blues Revue will be performing. The band consists of Dr. Harp on vocals and harmonica, Larry Lusignan on guitar, Tom Wright on guitar, Wando Mendell on bass, and Dan Fishbien on drums.

New Horizons operates two shelters as well as a soup kitchen and food pantry.

New Horizons main shelter serves adult men and women who may or may not have active addictions. Angie’s Shelter for Women serves adult homeless women who are transitioning into or out of a substance abuse treatment program or who meet other eligibility requirements* not associated with substance abuse.

Eligibility

Individuals requesting to stay at New Horizons or Angie’s Shelter for Women must meet the following requirement. Please note that Angie’s Shelter is not a domestic violence shelter.

New Horizon’s Main Shelter

18 years of age or older.

Have no other housing options.

Angie’s Shelter for Women

18 years of age or older.

Have no other housing option.

Have no addiction issues or be actively participating in a self help program.

Persons Not Appropriate for Either of New Horizons’ Shelters

Anyone with a serious medical condition that requires special treatment or would be at risk living in a congregate emergency shelter environment.

Anyone with a serious mental illness and who is not currently connected with a local mental health treatment professional or is not comfortable in a large group environment may have a difficult time in an emergency shelter environment.

Persons convicted of crimes against children are not admitted nor are persons convicted of arson.
