Perry Paolucci; Rock Can Roll food drive organizer
The annual food drive at Sons Of Italy in Quincy, Massachusetts is a personal mission for organizer Perry Paolucci. The booking agent and promoter started the annual food drive in 2014 to assist a local food pantry.
East Coast Alice; Alice Cooper tribute band
Hosting the Eight Annul Rock Can Roll food drive party with a band like East Coast Alice, Paolucci felt it would be good idea to make it into a Halloween party. The event, this year called the Halloween Meltdown, will have the highest production costs of any indoor event the organizer has ever hosted. The event raises money for Rawkstars, an organization that purchases musical instruments and pays for instructions for student musicians. Halloween Meltdown will take place at Sons Of Italy in Quincy, Massachusetts on October 25.
“I have always believed that if I could bring people together. Why not do it for good causes,” Paolucci said. He actually started out in the 1980’s with clothing drives as his mission. The can and nonperishable food drive is especially close to Paolucci’s heart.
“Growing up we had to go the a food pantry,” he said. “Dad did not work in the winter. He was a bricklayer And it’s a long story about both my parents and older siblings growing up during the depression. So it’s near and dear to me.”
Things could be uncomfortable for Paolucci during his childhood. He often had to wear clothes brought home from a Goodwill location. Fortunately, he never had to go to bed hungry. His dad made sure of that.
“He worked his butt off to save money for the family,” Paolucci said. Music has often been a balm for the event music organizer. His father was memorialized by a singer-songwriter who penned a song about his dad’s strong hands building a foundation and a home for his family to live in.
These days, Paolucci works hard to provide for members of the community. The Halloween Meltdown event he’s organizing will be a huge theatrical production. It features the Alice Cooper tribute band East Coast Alice. Based in New Bedford, Massachusetts, East Coast Alice is a large tribute band offering the feel of a live Alice Cooper concert. East Coast Alice is perfectly suited to the spooky season and another band, international touring act, Back In The Day. Back in the Day (an International touring, Rock N’ Roll 80’s Tribute Band) have performed on the Norwegian and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, open the night, at 7:00 pm
Music is Life, as they say, and a very important part of my life, brings us all together,” Paolucci said.
Paolucci plays the drums a little but is mostly a nonmusical man.
“I only host benefits, he said, “And help bands the best I can, not asking for money in return.”
Halloween Meltdown featuring East Coast Alice and Back In The Day begins at 7;00 pm with doors opening at 6:00 pm. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Nonperishable food for St. Joseph’s Food Pantry will be collected at the door. Sons Of Italy 120 Quarry Street, Quincy, Massachusetts.
